This past week several days have been a blessing. Several of us from Arnold (Dan, Kevin, Tom, Richard, and myself) enjoyed Polishing the Pulpit in Sevierville, TN. This is always one of my favorite weeks of the year and is the spiritual highlight. Many of the speakers you would recognize because they have spoken at Arnold (or will speak) for our Gospel Meetings. Many of these men send their greetings to you and rejoice with us as we work for the Lord. Brother Eric Owens spoke Tuesday about Moderation in Phil 4:5. While speaking, he said the following that I would like for us to examine a bit closer.
As I write this article, I find myself in the waiting room of the dealership waiting on an oil change. While this is usually a fairly productive time when I get to work on different things, I got to thinking about how we can all use some regular, routine spiritual maintenance.
Jesus went with His disciples to the garden of Gethsemane to pray to the Father. He prayed, if possible, that the cup might be removed. Ending the prayer “yet not as I will, but as You will.” (Matthew 26:39)
If you have had anything to do with the youth group in the last few weeks then you know that it has been crazy!!! Arnold’s youth have been working, learning and playing hard this summer with all of the different activities. I wanted to inform everyone on a few of these different activities and how the youth has grown closer to God and also closer to each other from them.
