When this time of year comes, the thoughts of many people turn to being thankful, courteous, and kind. This is good and certainly nice to see and hear people acting in this way. However, it should not take a special time of year or day for Christians to act this way.

When one becomes a Christian and acts as they should, these qualities are evident all year, every year. At least this should be the case. Having a grateful or thankful attitude filled with love and kindness should be shown in the life of a Christian to those with whom they interact.

This should stem from the fact that there is a God who has shown kindness and love to all people. Then when one develops a reverence for God, they seek to be obedient to Him. This results in the proper attitude toward Him and is shown to others.

Reverence for God is not something to be taken lightly. It should be practiced in all facets of one’s life. Understanding that we are nothing without Him. He created us and all things that we see, hear, touch, and smell. Therefore, we ought to revere His Holy Name.
Honoring Him by being faithfully obedient to the things He has commanded and revealed to us in His Holy Word, the Bible. Rejoicing in the fact that He sent His only Son to be the Savior of the World.

Instead of waiting for others to show kindness to you, show it to them no matter how they treat you. Easy? Not always. Possible? Absolutely, when we revere God and are indeed in awe of Him in a proper manner.

Remember the words of the Hebrew writer: Hebrews 2:28-29  “Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe; for our God is a consuming fire.’”

Hebrews 4:12-13  “For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.  And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.”

Revere and honor God always, show it by being kind and loving to others. God cannot be stopped, He is all powerful. Choose to serve Him in Christ now so that you may have the hope of Heaven some day.

Do what is right in His sight each and every day. There is no special time to serve God, it is a daily devotion to Him that is good and right. He loves and cares for you. Honor Him in Christ with everything and in every way that you can with a thankful attitude.
