In the book of Genesis we read the account of the first murder in the fourth chapter. In this account jealousy took root in the in heart of Cain and he killed his brother Abel. One of the most interesting statements during this exchange came when God asked Cain where his brother was, to which Cain responded “Am I my brother’s keeper?” While Cain really wasn’t looking for an honest answer, the answer is yes! One of the responsibilities of being a part of a family is that you look after each other. This is true with the physical family as well as with the spiritual family. Note the following:
Remember the good old days? People may look around at all the bad things in their generation and fondly remember the past with a mind focused on only the good things that happened. It is easy to forget that there are good and bad things with every generation.
The church is a divine institution appointed by God to show forth and declare Him to the world. The called out people, the church, Christians are to shine the light of God’s love through Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God.
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” (Romans 1:16) It is these words “I am not ashamed” that acts as a staple that holds all of Christianity together. After all, if we were ashamed of the Gospel why would we ever obey it or want to tell others about it?The truth is, we wouldn’t. If we claim that we are not ashamed of the Gospel, then we should not be ashamed to teach the Gospel.
