“Justice” by Dan Curry

Justice means different things to different people. The US court system will issue sentences based on a great number of factors. Offenders receive a different length of sentence based on the crime committed, the person, and their history, and often the defense that is presented.

“If I had a nickel for every…” by Michael Wyatt

You know that phrase, don’t you? Although today it would be more like a dollar instead of a nickel. Granted a nickel doesn’t buy much these days, so I can understand the increase in money. In my day a nickel could buy several things. I remember when a returned coke bottle would be worth a nickel. We would scour the neighborhood and fields to find the bottles that people would throw out, a few of those and we had some money. I also remember when I was so young that my older sisters convinced me that I should trade them my dimes for their nickels because the nickel was bigger – and I did!!

“A Summer Time Spell” by Ben Rominske

ummer has a special place in many people’s hearts. It is the time for long family trips, church camp, a break from school, hot days, a trip to a pool, and so much more. Many children go from this activity, to that activity, to this activity. We definitely like to be busy people. James 4:13-15 says, “13Come now, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.’ 14Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. 15Instead, you ought to say, ‘If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that.’”
