“Communication is Two Way” by Dan Curry

by ArnoldCoC

Communication is a two way process. There is one party distributing information and another receiving it. Sometimes the information is given and received as intended and other times it is not. When the message is unclear, it can be that it was given poorly or that it was received poorly.

“Be The Change…” by Avery Hackney

(1 Peter 2:9) “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:”

“Be an Encourager” by Dan Curry

by ArnoldCoC

There is something special that happens when we are encouraged by something or someone. You may have heard a statement similar to “my faith in mankind was restored” or “that shows there is hope for that person” after some special or unusual act of kindness or love is shown.

“What Did You Come to Hear” by Todd Clippard (copied)

A friend of mine, (a member of a denomination), made the statement about an area denomination’s revival: “I’d love to get over and hear _______ this week; he’s a real comedian.” While we are not surprised to hear such coming from today’s religious landscape, this sentiment has found its way into the Lord’s church. A sister in Christ, speaking about the ongoing Gospel Meeting at her home congregation, made the following comment about the previous night’s assembly and the speaker. “I never laughed so hard in all my life.” Hardly a ringing endorsement for those who still want to hear the gospel in a Gospel Meeting. I have heard “brother Comedian” preach, and he is more than capable of preaching excellent and insightful messages from God’s word. However, it is obvious that he is also overly concerned by making sure his audience gets a good laugh at the start, and perhaps several times throughout the evening.

“Where Are You?” by Avery Hackney

The longer I study God’s Word the more interesting things I find. One of the most recent observations I have begun to notice are all the questions asked in Scripture, particularly questions asked by God. Scripture clearly teaches that God is all knowing (Psalm 147:5, 1 John 3:20), why then does God ask questions? As we begin to study all the questions in the Bible, you will see that every time God asks a question it is a form of teaching, not a search for information. Consider the very first question God asked Adam in Genesis.

“Self Exam” by Dan Curry

by ArnoldCoC

The Bible tells us that we should do a self-examination of our lives in order to be sure that we are living as God would have us to live. This is not always an easy or fun thing to do. Perhaps the reason could be that to think about our faults seems to be a negative way of looking at ourselves. Yet, the Bible is clear that we must do this.

“The Supremacy of Christ” by Avery Hackney

There are over 50 names in our Bibles to describe Jesus. Among these names, two stand out to me as being extra unique. These names can be found in (Revelation 17:14) “These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.”

“Take Care of Your Soul” by Dan Curry

by ArnoldCoC

Sometimes, we do not take care of things the way that we should. Even when we might learn and know of the benefits of doing a certain activity. Exercise is good for our physical body. The benefits have been well documented over the years. We can know this, but we do not necessarily do anything about it.

“Sharing Moments” by Dan Curry

by ArnoldCoC

Memories are so precious to us in many ways. How many times have you begun a sentence with “Remember when”? Then a special moment in your life is shared, perhaps it is a sad one, or maybe a very humorous one. The things shared change with the particular audience you find yourself with at any particular time.
